Smart Pens are a relatively new office technology gadget gaining momentum among millennials. Because of their capabilities, they are trending to higher-level roles within companies.

SmartPen technology packs a punch; while it’s small in stature, it delivers a few very useful features that can make your daily grind easier. The concept behind them is that you can take notes with the freedom of a pen and paper, while the device learns your handwriting motion cues and transposes your text into a digital form for editing.  What if you are not a fast writer?  No worries, you can also audio record anything while you write as well, or create a calendar event with a few clicks.  Pretty brilliant right?   Now, some might argue that in our tech-driven planet this is still not quite as professional to enter a meeting with a computer when compared to a pen and paper.  This can go both ways; computers are highly distracting to others (not to mention yourself….I mean come on, how many times do you really check your email while your taking those meeting notes right?).   In addition, our society is becoming more and more addicted to them.   If you use your SmartPen, you can fool others into thinking you really are paying 100% attention but then have the pleasure of generating a quick digital version without the need to transpose manually.

There are plenty of options when purchasing a SmartPen, and all are around $150+.   A few that stand out- the Livescribe 3 which connects over Bluetooth, the Sky WiFi which only connect over WiFi, and the cheaper Echo with slightly less capabilities, and these are all just by one manufacturer! So get out and be sure to do some research before purchasing one.
