Safety Supplies Every Business Should Have
When you think about stocking the workplace with office supply products, your mind probably jumps to the essentials: paper, pens, notepads, and other daily-use items. However, it’s crucial not to leave safety supplies off the list. Like the saying goes, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. If you’re preparing to place a supply order for your office, be sure that you have all the safety must-haves on hand. Not sure what to add to your list? Here, we share a few emergency supplies that every workplace should have in stock:
Medical and First Aid Supplies
Regardless of your industry, it’s important to keep medical and first aid supplies within easy reach at all times. You never know when someone will have an accident that needs urgent attention, so you’ll always want to keep the following items in the office to remain OSHA compliant:
- Gauze pads
- Adhesive bandages
- Gauze roller bandages that are at least two inches wide
- Triangular bandages
- Wound cleaning solution (such as towelettes)
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Adhesive tape
- Latex and latex-free gloves
- Elastic wraps
- Splints
- Resuscitation equipment
- A minimum of one blanket
- Contact information for emergency personnel
Safety Signage
Many workplace accidents can be prevented by displaying safety signage. When the floors have been freshly mopped, you’ll want to ensure that your business has caution signs to let employees or patrons know to step with care. You may also want (or need) additional safety signage, such as:
- No smoking signs
- Fire safety signs
- “Do not enter” signs
- Hazard signs
Fire Safety Products
Fire drills are a necessary part of work life, as practicing the procedure can be life-saving in the event of an emergency. All businesses need the following fire safety supplies within easy access, and should make sure that each member of the team knows where to locate them:
- Fire extinguishers
- Fire blankets
- Exit signs
